Post-Survey for Research

I love (most of the) short answer questions! Just to quote a few that really shocked me, "It's easier to connect over the internat or texting than face-to-face." "Sometimes when I see someone coming to talk to me I use my device as a distraction or something to avoid the confrontation of socializing." "I get anxiety when someone tries to talk to me, I prefer it be over texting or snap-chatting." This made me realize that even though my topic was supposed to be more focused on children having technology access, people where so open to explain how they feel. Another big surprise I received was when I asked, "Have you felt that using technology kept you from making deeper connections with those around you?" Roughly 76% answered No or Sometimes. I felt the majority would've answered an immediate yes! Analyzing these results I've learned the students in my school know technology has affected them, they recognize they would rather communicate online, but few understand or think it's a problem. They don't want a change or think it's detrimental to their overall well-being. This survey was so interesting to read through, I felt like I was getting to know people, even though I didn't know who they were. I received sixty-six responses and it was pretty much an equal amount of subjects replying in each ninth-twelve grades. So far I'd say this experiment was a success!
